Excavations began on February 5, 1980 and concluded on February 12, 1980. The principal excavators, under the Co-Directorship of Professor G. R. Sharma of the University of Allahabad and Dr. J. D. Clark of the University of California ­Berkeley, were Mr. J. N. Pal, University of Allahabad; J. M. Kenoyer, Carole Sussman, and Jo Ann Gutin of the University of California, and P. Sinha, University of Allahabad, who was present during part of the excavation.
